Hello Everyone – Here in Tower Hamlets we are taking a look at how we might improve the provision of assistive technology to help people to live independently in their homes.
Our current model for Assistive Technology operates alongside our Telecare service, and covers of two broad areas:
– Training, awareness raising and a support function for health and social care practitioners, to help them improve their understanding and use of a wide range of AT devices.
– Researching and piloting new technology and devices, and expanding the range of equipment available.
As part of our general re-focus, we are exploring some new areas, including how to improve the provision of advice and information, integrating AT into early intervention and triage, and the potential use of trusted assessors to expand the use of AT. We are also interested in where AT sits in the organisation, and who does it.
Therefore, if you are able to share any information (particularly job descriptions or structure charts) that illustrates how you are dealing with the development and promotion of AT (other than Telecare) in your organisation, we would be very grateful.
